Two volumes, total 872 pages, printed on heavyweight silk art paper, hard-backed in Wibalin binding and presented in a bespoke slip-case.
Limited to 101 copies worldwide, hand-bound in ‘Yarwood’ grained leather and signed by the author, the two volume Collectors’ edition of Maserati, the Family Silver is presented in a bespoke cloth covered slip-case with inset leather ‘chassis plate’.
In recognition of the Maserati Tipo 26, the remarkable GP car that founded the legend of the Trident, just 26 numbered copies of the museum-quality Archive edition will ever be produced and, in keeping with the origins of the Maserati marque, no two of these will be the same.
Leather, linen and solid silver
The two volumes of the Archive edition are hand bound in fine leather and linen by the skilled artisans of world renowned bindery Ludlow Bookbinders, each volume incorporating a hallmarked solid silver plaque inset into its front cover. The volumes are protected by a hand-made leather covered casket contained within a bespoke, dry-milled leather ‘tool-case’ hand-crafted from carefully selected and matched full grain dry-milled cow hide, identified by a stainless steel ‘chassis plate’ stamped with its own unique edition number.
The Archive edition package includes a presentation page hand-signed by the noted Maserati collector and Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, along with race legends John Surtees and Sir Stirling Moss, the only two men still living to have won World Championship Grands Prix in Maserati propelled F1 cars.
Each presentation page is hand-illuminated by the eminent calligrapher Sam Burchett on calfskin vellum produced by William Cowley, suppliers to Hansard, the official report of the UK’s parliamentary proceedings. The use of this vellum, with its own unique DNA, is a rock-solid guarantee against forgery.
Original artist’s illustration
The Archive Edition package also includes a specially commissioned, original signed colour illustration from a prominent automotive artist, together with a signed, artist’s proof giclee print, the first batch of which are being painted by the distinguished English artist, Michael Turner.
